In Orillia, we celebrate with a jam-packed summer theatre season
at the Orillia Opera House. Williams and McDaniel Property Management has put together an overview of Orillia’s upcoming plays in anticipation of the 2015 summer season.

This summer, the season runs from June 25th to August 29th and features four live theatre shows, including Outlaw and The Ladies Foursome, both written by Norm Foster and directed by Jesse Collins, as well as On Golden Pond by Ernest Thompson and The Vaudevillians by Peter Colley.

Noble Towers (391 Barrie Road) is just 2.5 kilometres from the Orillia Opera House (20 Mississaga Street West), so you’re only a 20-minute walk from the doorstep of professional live theatre.

The first show of the season, Outlaw, runs from June 25th to July 4th, and is followed by On Golden Pond, running from July 9th-25th. The Ladies Foursome opens on July 30th and runs until August 8th, and, the last play of the season, The Vaudevillians, runs from August 13th-29th. All shows include Thursday matinees and evening shows, as well as weekend evening shows on Fridays and Saturdays.

If you’re walking to the Orillia Opera House from Noble Towers, Era 67 (64 Mississauga Street West) is a great spot to stop for a bite before or after the show. Located less than a block away from the venue, this five-star restaurant offers patrons a classy dining experience rooted in the versatile heritage of Canada, hence its name, referring to 1867 — the year of Confederation.

Whether you’re a diehard play-lover, or a first-timer for live theatre, the summer lineup at the Orillia Opera House is sure to have you coming back for more. Different ticket pricing options (flex packages, single or group) are available for purchase here.

Williams and McDaniel is excited about this year’s summer theatre, and hopes you are too. For more information about Noble Towers, you can visit their website.

Orillia Opera House

While the Orillia Opera House is the current home of professional and amateur performances, it is also one of Orillia’s most iconic historical buildings. Before its days as a basin for the arts, it was a police station, a post office and a jail. With a variety of upcoming performances like the 10th Annual Country Christmas Concert, the Christmas Prelude 2013 and a spectacular performance of The Nutcracker by the Nureyev State Ballet Theatre, there is always exquisite talent being showcased at the Opera House. You can purchase tickets for any of the performances online here or by calling the box office at 705-326-8011. Located on 20 Mississauga Street West, the Opera House is a five-minute drive from the Noble Towers apartments and an 11-minute drive from the Executive Suites.

Orillia Museum of Art and History

With local and national exhibitions, the Orillia Museum of Art and History (OMAH) showcases the best of Orillia and Lake Country’s culture and history. Located on 30 Peter Street South, OMAH is situated in the heart of the city’s downtown shopping and restaurant district. The Orillia apartments are also both less than 10 minutes away by car. In addition to the local artwork and historical facts showcased, there are a variety of interactive programs and workshops you can try. For those who have little ones, the OMAH’s Discovery Gallery features touchable art and activities fit for all ages. Visit the museum from Monday to Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and learn about Orillia’s great history while viewing some Canadian art.

Formerly the award-winning Canadian humourist’s summer home, the Stephen Leacock Museum is now a National Historic Site full of prized literary works. Walk through the property located on Brewery Bay and see the preserved manuscripts, photos and artefacts owned and created by Stephen Leacock. There are always exhibits running and daily tours of the house whose 1900s atmosphere has been expertly preserved. Located on 50 Museum Drive, the museum is less than a 10-minute drive from the Noble Towers apartments and an eight-minute drive from the Executive Suites.
