Support local arts, music, culture and theatre by visiting the Orillia Opera House (OOH). Since 1985, the Opera House has hosted local, national and international talents on its main stage. Whether you’re interested in community theatre, live music performances, dance or performances by homegrown talent and living legends, the Opera House doesn’t disappoint with its selection. Our preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel, has put together some upcoming productions and performances at the Opera House that residents of the Executive Suites and Noble Towers Apartments will not want to miss.
Renowned for its fine acoustics and housed in a historic building in downtown Orillia, the Opera House has hosted the talents of the Marx Brothers, k.d. lang, Mickey Rooney, Blue Rodeo, Lighthouse, Serena Ryder and Gordon Lightfoot. Opera House Shows
When you attend one of the OOH’s shows and events you’re not just enjoying an evening of theatre, you’re also contributing to the success of a culturally and economically sound community. Residents and visitors can contribute by becoming members, donating assets, purchasing seat plaques, volunteering or purchasing tickets to a number of performances. The OOH offers a variety of programs and performances that are divided into sections including: Summer Theatre, School Programming, 2015 Dance Festival, Additional Shows and the Take Your Seat Campaign.
Four performances are coming to the OOH for the 2015 Summer Theatre Season. Comedies, romance and vaudeville performances are what you can expect from OOH’s performances titled Outlaw, On Golden Pond, God of Carnage and The Vaudevillians.
The OOH is also responsible for providing programming specifically for schools and students. Upcoming school programming performances in 2015 include two-time Juno nominee Gregg Le Rock on May 12, 2015 and TorQ on March 11, 2015. TorQ explores the musical potential that exists in unconventional object such as kitchen utensils, wooden planks, keys and old car parts.
2015 Dance Festival
From April 23 to 26, the OOH will host the 2015 Orillia Dance Festival and provide a venue where students of dance can collaborate and perform.
Produced by the Orillia Wind Ensemble, OWE Goes to the Movies! and OWE Goes Boom are two live musical performances for audiences to enjoy. OWE Goes to the Movies features show and movie-themed music performed by a full-piece band on February 21.
