Getting active in Orillia


Now that winter is finally over, you can stop hibernating and put a little spring in your step. If you live in Orillia, here are a few suggestions to help you get active this spring and summer.

Waking up your senses with some fresh air, just take a walk around the block or visit your local park. The City of Orillia has over 440 acres of park space that are renowned for their calm waterfront spaces, cool playgrounds, wonderfully manicured lawns and impressive flower gardens. There are four categories of parks: Community Parks, Neighborhood Parks, Parkettes, and Naturalized Spaces. Skateboard parks, splash pads, sports fields, ball diamonds and trails are just some of the park features you’ll find in Orillia.

Row your boat
Rowing is a fun sport that exercises all of the major muscle groups while improving your cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength. The Orillia Rowing Club (ORC) presents rowing activities for all levels, from beginner to expert. The ORC is located just 3 km away from our featured apartment community at 391 Barrie Road on Lake Couchiching in Orillia’s Tudhope Park. For just $85 you can become a Card Rower with five rows to use as you see fit, or visit their website for other rowing options.

Rock wall climbing
Do you want to try something new and exciting? How about rock wall climbing? Rotary Place in Orillia has a 24-foot high structure that has been gaining popularity since its debut in 2011. There are five climbing tracks that range in difficulty from beginner to expert and offer an exciting challenge for climbers of all ages and skill levels. The YMCA is a great place to go to get active in Orillia. With a number of fitness programs designed to keep you moving, you’re sure to find something that you enjoy. The YMCA is located near our Orillia Apartment at 118 Creighton Street, just under a 15-minute drive.
